Did you get to see Lost Boy?

June 23rd, 2008 Posted in lost boy

We had a great premiere last night for Lost Boy: The Documentary. The church and all of our overflow venues were full to the max.

We received a lot of fantastic feedback from people who came. Many also came forward to commit their lives to Christ at the end of the film.

I have been especially touched with how this story is relating to young people. As one young girl said to me last night, “I totally relate to it, because nothing has really changed, has it?”

Right she is. If you were at the showing, or if you viewed it online, please let me know what you thought.

New Lost Boy Web site

We have launched a new Lost Boy Web site, where you can get all things related to this story, including the book and DVD, listen to the new “Lost Boy” song, and much more.

To see that, click here.

Daystar interview

As you know, I recently did an interview on Daystar TV for the Lost Boy book.

    Hi Greg,
First of all, I have to say, that Stella is just too precious!
What a blessing for your family.
My husband, and I attended the Harvest premiere of Lost Boy.
Thank you for the flash back, and your desire to seek the lost.
I could relate to much of your story.
It was a blessed reminder of God’s loving kindness, not willing that any should perish, and that He WILL complete that which He has started.
Your documentary brought back to my memory all those times, and a point at which my whole life was about to change drastically.
I came from a large family, and I was 14 at the time.
My Grandmother, was a refuge of comfort to me.
My mom was always hitting us around.
My father always being drunk, trying to escape from my mom’s rage.
Watching my parents always yelling at each other, or having violent fights.
After my confirmation, I refused to attend the catholic church.
    I saw too many contradictions.
I would be getting loaded all the time, as my boyfriend’s, friend was into everything.
I got pregnant 6 months after turning 14.
    Society was ripping apart.
I made a public confession in 1992 at Harvest Christian Fellowship.
And I was moved, finding out afterwards that you had illustrated the Living Water tract .
Because, although I can’t remember where I had gotten it, at the beach, on the ground, or from a friend.
But I remember back when I was 14, I had read that tract, believed and then put it away in my drawer.
Unfortunately in a large Catholic family, I did not have a bible, and did not follow the steps in the back of the tract.
    But God is faithful. Amen?

I think Lost Boy will span the age divide, as many marriages of today are shattered.
Younger people are trying to impersonate the hippies of the past (go figure) and many will find it relatable to their lives.
I’ve looked at what my life possibilities would’ve been like if I was able to access the tips in the back of that tract.
I know, that if I really knew what had God said, I wouldn’t have waited as long to make that commitment to Christ.

    Be blessed.

    Dear Greg,

My husband could relate to your movie, so could I. My husband had a life like yours, but his mom was married twice. a real rough life. The movie was great. I enjoyed it at Day 7. I love Day 7 with Pastor Steve. He is great in teaching and such a nice man. Matter of fact, haven’t met a bad pastor yet. They take the time for you and like to listen to you with patience, even if it is a stupid comment. The Lord has selected wonderful people in the ministry.

I would like to thank you for the opportunity to bring our family to God at Harvest Crusade last year. Praise goes to the Lord, big time. I now commit myself to the Lord every hour of the day with music, reading Scripture, and studying, and being a prayer warrior for the Lord and praying a lot.

God has also called me to work with teen mothers and battered women. I attend your Bible study and Christian growth classes, still have 9 classes left. Can’t wait till I may have the pleasure of serving at your church. I do pray before church. I guess that is a start. Yes, my parents think I go to church every day. I would if I could.

Someone from 1989 introduced me to the Harvest Church. I never went, but I now wish I would have gone. I looked at them as Jesus Freaks. Now I am a Jesus freak myself. I love it and I love the Lord so dearly. We have a great relationship and the Lord always surprises me with special gifts. Well, all praises go to the lord. Looking forward to meeting you someday. I will keep you in prayer.

P.S. I’m getting baptized on the beach at Corona Del Mar next month. Can’t wait. Again, thank you. God bless you!

My friend invited me to Harvest to watch a movie called Lost Boy, it sounded interesting to me so I said yeah, I’ll go! Little did I know that I would be re-dedicating my life to God that night. I was moved by your documentary and loved the fact that you are so upfront and honest with your life and are willing to share that with others.
My friend that invited me asked me afterwards, what was it that Greg said to make you go forward and I told her it wasn’t anything he said, it was things that have happened to me that have made me an angry person and I was tired of feeling angry and hurt all the time and I needed someone bigger and stronger to help me get through it. The feeling was amazing and still is amazing, I have never felt like this before, I have always believed in God and loved God, but he was always an arms reach away and now he is sitting next to me and I cry when I think about how I kept him out. I wish I knew why. Maybe the answer will come to me someday and maybe it won’t but I know as long as I keep God next to me, I will make it in this world and as an obese woman struggling daily to lose weight, I need God to guide me, protect me and make me even stronger. Thank You for your story Greg which helped me to at least realize I needed God back in my life whole heartedly. God Bless you and yours!! :)

  4. Mike says:

Wow! We had the opportunity to be there at Day 7 and to be a part of watching the result of all the hard work and tearful reflection you have put forth to honor the Lord with your transparancy, humblenss and struggle. My wife Susan and I have the Lost Boy DVD and will use it diligently in our life ministry however would find great benefit in also utilizing the video from the service from before the film and your message which followed the film. Will this be made available? The service was a powerful reflection of the faithfulness of our God and we are so grateful to be part of a church that is so used by God. Thank you for your story and for your faithfulness!

  5. Mike says:

We were there, it was awesome! It was awesome to see what God can do in a persons’ life…beauty for ashes! Many people are going to come to Christ through your testimony. Thanks for putting so much into it and for opening up your life for other lost boys/girls to see every person matters to God and God can use anyone who wants to be used. The movie rekindled a passion for evangelism for my wife and I. We bought 5 copies, we’ll be sending them out to friends and maybe showing it at our home and using it as a tool to talk about God and share the gospel with anyone who wants to listen.

My wife and I watched Lost Boy live on webcast as well. It was a blessing and a well done film. I purchased the DVD and hope to share it with others. There were many aspects of your life that I related to in indirect ways. It got me thinking about my own testimony. I don’t feel that I have some great amazing story to tell, as you mentioned you kind of feel about your story. However my story, just like yours, is still a story of Gods redemptive work and maybe there is someone who could relate to my story and come to know the Lord one day. I’m going to start praying for an opportunity for the Lord to use my lost boy story in someone’s life. Thanks for making this film Greg!

  9. Irene says:

Came across your web site by accident.I wanted to know if your film will be coming to Calvary Chapel in Philly-(Philmont Ave) any time soon? Did not get to see your web cast. Having problems with my computer. Will probably buy the book.Since I had accepted Jesus Christ at the Billy Graham Crusade when I was twelve, there have been many changes in my life(70 Years Old)I know that I could not have gotten to this age without having Jesus as my Savior.God Bless you and much success with your upcoming Crusade.

  10. Judy says:

My husband and I watched the webcast together. Your story of redemption was told so simply and giving God all the glory. I cried a few times…#1 my life used to be like your Mom’s and it brought back memories but mostly joyful tears because I know I am forgiven because of what Jesus Christ has done in my life. We saw all the people come forward and believe many, many, many more will come to Jesus upon hearing the GOOD NEWS of Jesus. May God continue to bless you, your ministry and your beautiful family.

  11. Donna says:

I went to 2nd service yesterday, then I was baptized (refreshing in many ways), and then I went to the “Lost Boy” showing. Wow, do I feel good! I haven’t read the book yet, although I bought 4 several weeks ago to give to others. I kept one for myself and am even more encouraged to read my copy after the documentary. My son is in an out of state “program school” for “lost boys and girls” and I am taking the book for anyone to read there. I’m going to ask if the DVD can be shown there as well. I know it will reach many. How I wish they could have heard your testimony personally. I was also a child of the 60′s and 70′s and was first saved through Campus Crusade for Christ, so the documentary was very personal for me. I’ve only been a member of Harvest since October, re-accepted Christ into my life 30 years later in November. What took me so long? I am thankful to you for evangelizing and bringing me back. You will reach many more.

  12. Kris says:

I was able to watch “Lost Boy” on the webcast last night and loved it. Thank you for sharing your story with so many.

I was blessed to see folks give their life to Christ following the film last night. I pray that Lost Boy continues to make an impact for the Kingdom.

  13. Anne says:

I was not able to attend last night’s showing, but I probably will go when you show it at Calvary Chapel Golden Springs. I was busy with a memorial service for a very close family friend and sister in the Lord.

  14. Elizabeth says:

I was able to watch the service live online. The “Lost Boy” documentary was incredible! Even though I was there at Day7 when you came and told your story, it was awesome getting to see it too! It’s always so encouraging to see that God can take a life like that and completely turn it around to glorify Him!

p.s. I am one of your “blogging buddies.” haha. As you told Pastor Steve yesterday, I am also a blogoholic. haha.
