Hey everyone! How “Y’all” doing?

Speaking at Prestonwood Sunday Morning

Speaking at Prestonwood Sunday Morning

I just returned from Dallas, Texas, where I had the privilege of speaking at one of the great churches of our nation, Prestonwood Baptist Church. Prestonwood is pastored by Jack Graham, a good friend and a gifted communicator and Christian leader.

We had a Lost Boy weekend, which included a screening of the new version of my documentary film, Lost Boy: The Next Chapter. We had tremendous response in the services, with some 300 making commitments to follow Christ.

Jonathan Laurie speaks

During the Saturday night service at Prestonwood, I asked my son Jonathan to come and talk about the changes that have taken place in his life since the sudden departure of his brother Christopher for heaven.

He made a real connection with the kids and God really used him. Jonathan was raised in our church and has heard the Word of God his whole life and has always believed, but recently made a serious commitment to not only follow Christ but to serve the Lord in ministry as well.

As a father, I could not be more proud. I know his brother is proud of him as well!

Lost Boy: The Next Chapter available online

This week, we are going to post the new version of the Lost Boy documentary online for a limited time. A new DVD version is being finished, with a lot of extras, that you will be able to purchase.

So stay tuned and watch Lost Boy: The Next Chapter. You can even send a link for your friends to watch this film as well.

God has already used this book and documentary as a powerful tool to bring many into His kingdom. It’s a story of redemption, that of my father, mother, son, and myself.

Important announcement tomorrow

Tomorrow, I will announce an exciting new live ministry outreach in Southern California that will be starting in March, so check this blog.

    Hi Pastor Greg,

What a blessing! Very happy and joyfull to read about the blessings from this weekend. And even more to read about the folks who saw you and made comments about it.

I’m very happy about Jonathan, and I can imagine how proud and happy you and Cathe are for his life and commitment to the Lord and His service.

I’ll be praying for you and the upcoming Harvest Crusades, and I agree with Sandy, you should come to Texas! That would be awesome. I would take a whole bus to see you =) I’ll be praying for this too, so someday in the future you can come to whatever area people invite you in Texas. I will go and take my family and friends with me. I could help usher with the Spanish-speaking people =)

May our Lord richly bless you today and even more than before.

    In Christ,
    Mariana.

  2. Peter says:

Hi Pastor Greg, thanks for your inspiring ministry. I listen to your preaching on Radio Rhema in Geelong.

Geelong is in Victoria, Australia, where the bushfires have devastated our state. I have not been affected where I live. At this stage,173 people have perished in the flames.

I am asking for prayers for those who have lost loved ones, houses . . . everything. Please pray people in need will experience God’s love as Christians minister to them. Essentially, please pray however God leads you.

    Blessings, Pastor Peter

God’s amazingness never ceases to be, well, amazing, right? Glad you’re back in Cali.

    Pastor Greg,
I’m glad you made it back safely from Dallas, Texas. I’ve always wanted to go there, especially to try the bbq! Obviously, you had a much better excuse! It’s really cool to hear that Jonathan went up and spoke about what the Lord is doing in his life. Tell him us Harvestonians that work in the Communication Department are proud of him!

  5. Karla says:

    Dear Pastor Greg,

Welcome back home. What great news! I can only hope that my son may be called with such a blessing. You and Cathe must be overjoyed. God’s grace continues to shine forth from your lives. Clearly God has chosen you and your family to do His bidding.

    Way to go Jonathan!

    Many Blessings,

    Love Karla & Khyl Souve

  6. Anne says:

I can’t wait to see the new cut on the Web. Any chance we’ll get to hear what Jonathan said at Prestonwood?

  7. Schell Family says:

    Pastor Greg,

I am a member of Prestonwood and I just want to say “Thank You” for making the trip to Dallas and for sharing your life’s story with our church family. In watching the film, it brought back so many memories of the 60’s and 70’s when I was a young preteen and teenager. I, like many others, laughed, cried and prayed with you and we will continue to pray for you, your family, and your strength and for your ministry.

My daughter was attending the Freedom Weekend with the High School girls and they were sitting down front. I didn’t get to see her Saturday night, but I did see your entire film and came back Sunday morning to hear the shorter version. It gave us some wonderful conversations on the way home that afternoon.

May God continue to bless you for all you are doing in His service and I know your ministry has touched thousands and will continue to do so. I have already sent your link to many of my friends and when I read that the DVD will be out, I will be ordering several!

Everyone has a story, and since yours is documented, we can all see our own story played out in our minds as we relate to yours and therefore it will remind us of how precious life is and how seemingly short our time is here on earth.

When I get back to California, I am going to look up your church and I will be writing my co-workers that live out there to tell them of our experience meeting you. Thank you again and God Bless You!

  8. Teri says:

So glad that you’re back here in California. Sounds like God really blessed this weekend in Dallas! I’m so excited to hear about Jonathan serving the Lord in ministry, that’s great! God Bless you Jonathan! Looking forward to tomorrow’s blog about the new love ministry outreach that will begin in March.

    In Jesus’ Love,
    Teri

  9. Becky says:

Thanks Greg! Sounds great, I look forward to that! And that’s so nice about Jonathan. :) I often wonder how this last year has affected him. I’m praying for you all and feel very led by the Lord to continue partnering in your ministry. Bless you.

    Love, Becky

p.s. Its so fun to have you on my FaceBook too:)

  10. Donna says:

    Pastor Greg,

I go to Prestonwood! What an awesome weekend! What an inspiration and blessing you are to so many!

I have received your devotionals for a few years now and pass them along to several people. You have blessed my life tremendously. Your testimony, your film and life are an incredible witness and proof that there is a God of love and change. It is clear that God had His hand on you from birth. Your character is steadfast. The hope you give to others through your ministry and crusades is a journey that encourages others that by turning to God, their life can have new meaning with eternal purpose.

A brother-in-law of mine went to be with the Lord two days before Christopher, as well as a dear friend who was a 16 year breast cancer survivor. Since I get your devotionals and catch your blog, I was devastated for you and your family when I read with disbelief of his passing. I watched online your first crusade after Christopher’s passing. The incredible strength and hope you conveyed to the masses was amazing. One can only look at your life and say God is with you and through the thousands of us that pray for you and your family daily, you will continue to do great work for His kingdom.

I was blessed by getting to know you even better this weekend, and I know your church has to feel very honored to have you as their pastor.

God Bless you and keep you in His care as you continue to do His work and know we love you and pray for you as you do His good work and still mourn the loss of your Christopher.

Much Love and Blessings In His Name,

    Donna

P.S. We were hoping we could get a copy of your film. Now I can tell many that it will be available in DVD soon!!

  11. Miranda Family says:

    Good morning, Pastor Greg,

I’m looking forward to seeing the “Lost Boy: The Next Chapter” online soon and your announcement about your new ministry!

I see my life as a book with many chapters, not knowing when the book will finish, but I want to keep writing it until God says I’m done.

    Pressing on….Blessings ~ Becky

  12. Sandy says:

    Hi Pastor Greg,

Brad and I were so blessed that we were able to go see you in Dallas!

We cried with you when you spoke about Christopher and when we saw him in Lost Boy. We laughed with you because you’re just plain funny and we rejoiced with you when Jonathan shared his testimony.

We became Christians at a Harvest Crusade in California 14 years ago. You have been such a big part of my walk with the Lord.

After reading Lost Boy, I realized that you are just a normal person. I always looked at you as “Pastor Greg,” the Bible teacher and writer (which you are), but now I see you as an everyday person who serves the Lord with all your heart.

You mean a lot to our family. I am so thankful to God that He made it possible for us to talk to you for a couple minutes.

You signed our book next to our story, and someday the book will be handed down to one of our three children.

I have such a great compassion for the Harvest Crusades (I think only the Lord knows how deep my passion is). Since we’ve moved to Texas three years ago, we haven’t been to one. My desire is to be a part of the Crusades somehow, someday. Either you will have to have a crusade in Texas or we will just have to move back to California!

Pastor Greg, you are a special person to so many people in the world, and you are making a difference in peoples lives. Now Christopher’s story and Jonathan’s story will impact thousands and thousands of lives also.

As long as I have heard you teach, you have always spoke so lovingly about Cathe. What a special family you have.

I hope your church family in Riverside never take it for granted that they have you as a pastor.

    Hee Haw from Texas!!
    Sandy and Brad

  13. Dianne says:

Good morning and thank you all so very much for making the trip to Dallas to spend this last weekend with us. I am a member of Prestonwood Baptist and attended the 11:00 a.m. service Sunday. You made me laugh, cry, and think about several things. And you’re right, I don’t know how to respond to you losing your precious son. I am sorry for the earthly loss of your son and I will pray for you. I visited your memorial Web site because I was particularly interested in Chris’ artwork. Very talented young man and I know I don’t need to tell you that – you know.

I also have two sons, 29 and 32. Neither are married and both have accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior, although neither are members of or attend a church. This year for Christmas, I asked them to indulge me once a quarter and attend a church with me. I chose this weekend to bring them to Prestonwood so they were with me Sunday morning. I know they listened and heard your message. And I know you gave them lots to think about. Thank you.

I ask that you pray that your message touched them and will help lead them to a deep and meaningful relationship with God. And I look forward to your next visit.

  14. Cynthia says:

How awesome! It’s so great to hear how God is using Jonathan, especially in the lives of children. I am so excited to hear about the documentary being available online. I will be sending the link to everyone I know! Thank you so much! I know many people are going to come to the Lord through it.
