Wow!

August 15th, 2009 Posted in Harvest Crusades, Pastor's corner

What a beginning for our 20th year of Harvest Crusades events.

We saw 29,000 people attend, and best of all, 2,898 people made professions of faith to follow Jesus. That may be an all-time high for a Friday night.

And there are two more nights to go!

Tonight, Angel Stadium will rock with the sounds of Relient K, Skillet, and the Katinas as they lead us in worship.

My message will be “The Writing’s On the Wall.” It’s the story of a proud, young king of Babylon who thought he could ignore and even mock God without consequence. He found out differently.

The “writing is on the wall” for us to see too, and the message is this: eternity is real, life is short, and Jesus is coming!

So come on out tonight to the youth event at the Southern California Harvest or watch online here.

This is a confession on my part and hear is my story. My 8 year old grandson and I attend Harvest Christian Fellowship, and a couple of Sunday services ago he asked if he could sit with me outside instead of attending children’s church, I said yes. Pastor Greg preached a wonderful message that touched my grandson’s heart. When the invitation to go forward to accept Christ publically was announced, my grandson expressed that he wanted to go forward. I being anxious to get home and out of the heat told him “You already prayed to ask Jesus into your heart when you were five, you don’t have to do it over and over again.” I felt convicted because I knew that he was old enough to understand the gospel message and to make a public commitment to Christ. I promised him that I would take him to the “Harvest Crusade” and if he still wanted to publically go foward, he could.
We attended Friday night and the invitation was given, my grandson whom seemed distracted at times during the crusade; made me wonder if he was ready to go foward and I question him again if this is what you want to do? He was the first to jump to his feet and ready go out to the field. I thought to myself is he going just to be going? When we reached to feild he hugged me and started crying, I knew that his decision was sincere and the holy spirit touched his and mine heart. I was so glad I took him Friday night, and was taught a lesson; you are never too young and I shouldn’t have discouraged him and made him wait!

My daughter and I attended all 3 of the services at Angel stadium as follow up workers. Boy what beautiful 3 nights. Thank you Pastor for being so faithful, and not allowing the hard knocks to knock you down.

I was able to minister to whole families, and children, what a blessing all were coming back to the Lord. It’s true God does lead you to the right people. I just give God all the Glory that I was able to be part of all this.

We had a funny incident happen where we were sitting. When they were shooting the t-shirts into the crowd, a young boy was sitting in front of us eating nachos, he saw that t-shirt coming, he jumps up and the nachos, jalapenos, and cheese flew into the air and landed at our feet, lucky no one was hit, but it was so funny to see, he had everybody laughing. Praise the Lord He has a sense of humor.

I was just happy to be a part of all this, I’am 70 years young and who knows if I will be here next year, I hope so, but if not I am ready to go home. Thanks again Pastor and to God be all the Glory.

I didn’t make it into the Stadium tonight but I felt something very strong come over me as I approached the stadium and saw the crowds. I was weeping like a baby on my way back home. I can’t explain the sudden wave of emotion but can only say it had to be the power of God reaching out to me to say “I am here.” I witnessed a miracle tonight. I am grateful that God has chosen to use your life, Pastor Greg, to deliver his message.

    Dear Pastor Greg,
Our God is an awesome God! As I took to the field as one of your follow up counselor Saturday night, I prayed that I would be lead to someone in need. During your prayer the women behind me was crying. After your prayer ended I handed her a bible and ask her specifically what I could pray for. She proceeded to tell me that CPS had just taken her son due to her drug use. I truly believe that God puts us in the right place at the right time because I work for a Substance Abuse Program and help women get their kids back.

    God Bless You,
    Debbie

My family and a friend attended Saturday night. It was so moving! I have been born again for about 12 years now and I am so excited to see the work God does through all of His children. I pray He does a greater work through me. I really am praying hard for the new Christians. Praise God!!

I took my teenage son, his girlfriend, and two other teenagers to Friday night’s crusade. Although they were nervous and afraid to walk down to the field on Friday evening I knew that the seed had been planted. Today (Sunday) I took the same kids plus one to our church The ROCK in San Diego where Nick Vujicic brought us a loving message of Christ’s love and forgivness. I am beyond grateful to report that all five teenagers responded to the alter call and accepted our Lord Jesus into their heart. PRAISE GOD!!!

Tonight at the Harvest Crusade, a young teenager I brought committed her life to Christ. She struggled though, being raised as a Catholic. Her parents are separated; her mother is a new Christian and her father is a devout Catholic. He had told her not to “sell out” her religion. She did make it to that baseball feel and said the prayer. The counselor that came up to her was about the same age as her; although both shy I think it worked out for the best.

I was watching online what’s going on at the field (9:05pm). And suddenly, before the altar call, the Holy Spirit touched my heart to pray for those people being shown on my laptop screen. I broke out in tears and started praying for them, not minding myself, who is at best an indifferent person. I cried, wiped my tears out, cried again, wiped again, and I just can’t understand why I’m crying but praying for mercy and grace from God for those people at the field. My heart was really touched when I saw mom and dad crying for their teenage son. I really broke out and cried out loud that God will work on that family. I have a teenage son who is rebellious and stubborn, and I connected with that family. Even if I don’t hear them, I understand how they felt b’coz I have a son like that. May God work on that family and all those who surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ.

    I kept praying.

    In Christ,

    George

    Dear Pastor Greg,

God sure does answer prayers! My wife’s sister was the only one that came, out of tons of people that we invited, and the Lord touched her heart that Friday night through your message. What a great message it was. She told us that the entire time she felt that you were speaking directly to her. It’s amazing how God works and we are grateful to be a part of such an amazing work of God. Our family loves you, Pastor Greg, and you and your family are always in our prayers. God bless you.

This is amazing. I am in line for Saturday’s event. My first time at any type of event like this and it is just so amazing what God has done. I look around me at this huge crowd in line with me and so many types of people from all different backgrounds, all here to either worship or be introduced to the the only One who can save them–Jesus…so incredibly moving!

  16. Lonny Anthony Wedell says:

Friday was awesome. I will be there tonight and pray that there will be more that come to Jesus. However, I think that the back part of the stage needs to come down as it possible that Angel Stadium could have been filled.

  17. Joan says:

    Dear Pastor Greg,

Last night was my first time counseling at a Harvest Crusade. It was awesome! The message was awesome. I like that you said “Heaven is not full of good people, but forgiven people.” So true.

    Thank you!
    High Regards,
    Joan
