Why I do what I do

August 18th, 2009 Posted in Harvest Crusades, Pastor's corner

People ask me, “Why hold these Harvest Crusades events? Do they really work? Are lives really changed?”

Yes, they are.

Here is just one of many stories we’ve received:

I don’t know if this message will ever get to Greg Laurie, but if it eventually does, I just want to say thank you. The 2009 Harvest event was my first time accepting God into my life.

My name is Toni Gott and I am 15 years old. I grew up in the Catholic Church, not knowing what I was praying about or even who I was praying to.

When I attended the Harvest, my life was changed. I didn’t know God on a personal level before I listened to you preach. Now that I have accepted that I am a sinner and have accepted the Lord into my life, I feel so much closer to Him.

Mr. Laurie, I just want to say thank you because you brought on this change in my life. When you said at the beginning of the night that “lives will be changed tonight,” I didn’t believe that a few words could make such an impact.

By the time I left the Harvest, I was in tears. Your words cling to my soul and make me realize that I could never be without God. I just couldn’t. I love the Lord so much and I never knew it. Jesus Christ died on the cross for us, for me and I want to re-devote my life to the Lord. I am a new person.

I have had lots of problems as a young girl. I have tried to commit suicide at least three times. I never thought anybody would love me, but now I know God loves me just as I am. You made me realize that God can give me the strength to keep living. As long as I have my faith in the Lord, I will be ok. So again, Mr. Laurie, thank you for changing my life for the better. God Bless.

Sincerely, Toni Gott

    Dear Pastor Greg,

I currently live in Las Vegas, NV; but i made the time and energy to go to the 09 Harvest, and I thank you for reminding me just how powerful our God is and how much more there is to this life. I was wondering if there was anyway that you could come to Vegas for a Crusade; I don’t know if you have come yet (the Harvest archives in Wikipedia only go back as far as 2003), but I can say for certain that the area is in need. I’m not saying that people just rely on you to gather the harvest, but with the resources that God has given you, I imagine it would be something to see out here in Vegas. I mean, seriously, how many people would really want to serve God out here anyway, in what is aptly named “Sin City”? But I believe that the Work of God cannot be stopped, even in the heart of “Sin City”. Just something to think on.

    Dear Pastor,

I was blown away at Saturday nights Crusade. I have been many times before, but never have I seen it soooo crowded!!! I brought my daughter who is a drug addict and her friend who is one too. They both went down to the field when you made the call. They both gave their hearts to Jesus and that I got to witness that, it was amazing. I have been praying for my daughter for the last 10 years for her to turn her life over to Jesus and I got to see it happen!!! Thank you for planting the seeds!!!!

We need more than one Crusade a year! hahaha

    Dear Pastor Greg,

What an amazing crusade this was for the year of 2009. I have been comming to these events for about 10 years now I would say but i have never experianced one like this. I have to say Sunday nights event was the best i have ever been to. I felt the power of Holy Spirit all in there. Chris T. is amazing and the firework show was as well. I will have to say though the reason why this one was the best was becuase my wife’s sister gave her life to the Lord! God sure does answer prayers in his timing! Events like these are what some people need. She went to church with us and would never go forward to give her life to Jesus. For some reason though through the Harvest Crusade she gave her life to Christ. I think these events are not only life changing for many people but also different people respond to the Gospel in different enviorments. Needless to say im glad you do them! May God Bless you and the whole Harvest team who always take the time to plan and make these events possible!

Greg, you have been truly blessed with a gift of communicating God’s love, and I just wanted to personally thank you for using your gift. I had the sincere privelege of witnessing my dear grandmother, and my little brother commit they’re lives to Jesus on the Angels field Sunday evening at the Crusade. I was moved beyond words! I was told before the event began Sunday night, that my brother was not going on the field, I was crazy if I truly believed he would do it, and my response was, the night has only began, that decision is between him and God. Sure enough, your message made such an impact, that when you extended your invitation, my brother stood up, and said “lets do this!” Thank you

Thank you for your faithfulness to unapologetically preach the Word, and the life-changing power of God. We are so blessed to have you in our dying world, and I just love your courage and your ability to communicate the gospel. So preach on, brother. You words have been an anchor to us in a very stormy year. The Lord continue to bless you and use you mightily, and comfort your soul till you are reunited with Christopher.

    Praise Him!!!

All the glory be to God. I pray to be a broken vessel that the Lord will use to bring others to Christ.

I am encouraged by reading these praise reports. I encourage others to be bold in declaring their faith and see how God can use you.

Pastor Greg, Praise Him for how he uses you to reach His children.

    Amen to that.

I took my youth group on Saturday and more than half of them went down to the stadium to accept Christ.

I saw the change on Sunday morning during praise and worship. One of the girl was in tears and truly worshiping God. I knew then that Jesus was really in her heart. She’s a changed person now.

Thanks for drawing a smile on my face, as you probably had one on you when you received this testimony.

It’s definetly amazing when we get a close look of the work the Holy Spirit does within a person’s life, just amazing.

Thanks for sharing Pastor Greg =)

And thanks for being willing to be used by the Lord… it’s always amazing what He can achieve when we’re willing to be used.

    Thanks again!

Praising God with you, for all those who made decisions for Jesus Christ the King of glory. Those recorded, and every one not yet recorded on this side of Heaven!!Thank you for your faithfulness in preaching Gods Word!

“This is the generation of those who seek You, who seek Your face. Lift up your heads, O gates, and be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in! Who is the King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O gates, and lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in! Who is the King of glory? Lord of hosts, You are the King of glory.”
    (Psalm 24:6-10)

I had the privilege of watching the last night on the web. Thank you again Greg for all you do to see lives transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. It was good to see Cathe on stage with you too. What a woman of God she is and what strength she carries with her! Bless you all.
