Are we living in the last days?

October 21st, 2009 Posted in essentials, OC, Pastor's corner, sermons, travel

I believe that Jesus Christ is coming back again.

In my understanding of Bible prophecy and what theologians call eschatology, the next event on the prophetic calendar is the rapture of the Church. That is the event where Christ Himself will call all true believers to join Him in heaven.

It will happen, as the Bible says, “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.” I hope you are ready for that event.

I will be speaking this Thursday night in Orange County on this topic. The title of my message will be “Signs of the Times,” and it is the first of a five-part series on the last days.

I will also be speaking on this same topic next week at the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove in North Carolina. Joining me will be my friends Don McClure, Levi Lusko, and Pedro Garcia.

There is still time to sign up for that. For more info, click here.

Israel is the key

The Bible is very specific in saying that a sign of the times would be the re-gathering of the Jewish people into their homeland of Israel. When that happened, the prophetic clock would be ticking.

The Bible tells us, “When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory” (Psalm 102:16). So it is  not just a sign of the times, it is a “super-sign.”

Never had a nation been able to regain its national identity, 300-500 years after being removed from its homeland, until Israel!

Today, you will look in vain for the descendants of the Hittite and Babylonian nation, even though both were major powers in the ancient world. In fact, if it were not for the Bible, the Hittites would never have been remembered by history, so far had they sunk into the sands of time.

At one time, scoffers used to ridicule the Bible for even mentioning the Hittites. It was thought that they were fictional. But archaeologists in the 19th century eventually confirmed the accuracy of Scripture when they uncovered irrefutable evidence of the extensive Hittite Empire.

Still, you won’t find any Hittites today or Assyrians or Babylonians.

Not so with the Jews!

Why did they survive, while the mighty Hittites, Assyrians, and Babylonians have vanished? Because God promised they would!

That prophecy came true on May 14, 1948, when Israel became a nation again.

I will talk about this more tomorrow, but here’s a closing question for you: If Jesus came back today, would you be ready?

I am so ready to be with the Lord-I am constantly looking for signs that his return in near and now that the countries around Israel are gearing up, it affirms for me that his return is nearer than ever! People are lovers of self and money and godlessness is all around us. It’s hard for believers to dwell here on Earth anymore, so Lord please come for your believers! We are waiting and looking forward to your glorious coming! Thank you Pastor Laurie for spreading the Good News!

I accepted Christ when I was in elementary school – my dad lead the prayer. I too have had my ups and downs in life, but I believe in the Lord Jesus and strive to live how He would want me to. I am ready for Jesus – however I would be lying if I said I didn’t want to watch my children grow up to be men/woman of God. I know the Lord knows my heart and my feelings aren’t wrong, but normal.
Something I have been struggling with alot the last few months is something that has been coming up on Christian Radio Stations. Harold Camping is going around telling others that the rapture is going to happen on May 21st, 2011. This man is a flse prophet and it hurts me to see fellow christians believing this man. It says in the Bible that no one will know the time of Christ’s return, yet this man is so sure of himself. He needs prayer. Does anyone else know about this man? Any thoughts?

Thanks for clearing up a question I had the Holy Spirit still being around during the last days on this morning’s broadcast on KWAVE.thank you.

You know the Bible makes the case for speeding up the Lords coming in 2 Peter 3:12 and also Jesus said the end will come when all have heard the Gospel. So if we are tired of trials and the woes of life then start sharing Jesus like crazy! If Christians around the world would share their faith with atleast 1 person a week imagine the impact that would be made on this world.

    Shalom Pastor Greg and Family.
I am so ready to go. As I drive in my car, or I walk outside, or even when I sit in my home, looking up at the sky, I am constantly watching, waiting, listening. I want to thank God for you Pastor Greg, for all that you do for the love of Jesus and for those that are believers and unbelievers alike, and for the Kingdom of God. Helping to usher in those that are lost, or backslidden.
Thank you for continuing to have Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and for desperately getting the Word of God out there before it’s to late and people are left behind.
Thank you for being a bond-servant to Jesus and for setting such an awesome example with your words and your life to the rest of us.
God bless you greatly for supporting Israel and the Jews.
God bless you and your entire Family, and may He keep you always in His graces.
From my Family to yours, in the Love of Christ Jesus forever and ever,
    Amen.

Yes! I am ready! I have been saved since I was 3 1/2 and have had a very wonderful, happy, blessed life. I really love living it everyday. Recently, I have drawn closer to the Lord and He has drawn me near. I feel like I am finally truly absorbing all I can in His word and look for so many more opportunities to learn and retain and do more to praise and glorify God. I feel so grateful for having the privilege of tuning into your teachings. I just finished watching the dvd Lost Boy and cried during the whole thing. I am currently reading Hope For Hurting Hearts and can barely turn a page without tears. I receive your daily devotions everyday and love them. I thank God for you and all you do in His name and for His glory and for His Kingdom. I feel blessed to be learning so much more everyday and although I have already been blessed with such an amazing life, this has been the best time in my life because I feel that my heart is truly connected with Jesus. My heart actually hurts with love and gratefulness for His love for me. Thank you Greg for all you do, it really does help so many people in their journey with Christ! Please know that you and your wife and your family are in my prayers. ~ Mary Dondel

I’m ready. The question I have to ask myself is..how many others are ready because of my efforts to share the message of the gospel?

I am ready! I can’t remember when I first loved God. I learned to sing Jesus Loves Me when I was 4 yrs. old. In 1975 I recommited my life to God and have had some ups and downs throughout my life, just like everyone else. When I lost my daughter to a drunk driver, is when I knew for certain whatever God’s plan was, it would all work out. He saved my sanity then and still does. I read your daily devotional for 10/21 and remembered Pastor Chuck well. He brought so much to me and my family. When we retired and came to Yucca Valley, Jerel Hagerman reminded me of him. My daughter, Dana, goes to your Thurs. nights and says the same of you. We thank all of you for what you do in God’s name. God bless , Vicki Parsons
