Are you a follower of Jesus Christ?

September 30th, 2010 Posted in sermons

Tonight I begin a new series in Orange County from the Gospel of Matthew.
It’s called “Follow Me!”
It’s all about following Jesus Christ in the modern world.
Frankly, I think Jesus Christ has a lot more admirers then He does genuine followers.

Jesus has always been popular.

Throughout history it is evident that Jesus has always been an admired figure.
Even today, many people regard Him as a great moral teacher.
And there are still multitudes that claim to be followers of Jesus.
Many of them are filling churches on Sunday mornings.
In a poll taken in 2001, JESUS CHRIST was the most widely admired hero.
But Jesus did not say, “Admire Me.” He said, “Follow Me!”
But what does that mean specifically?
Come out tonight and find out.

How do I go from admiration of Christ to follower? How do I unclog the piece that goes from head knowledge to heart knowledge? I am 44 and for 20 years I have been trying to connect the two.
