Thanksgiving update

November 25th, 2008 Posted in family, holidays, sermons

Hey guys!

Great entries on what you are thankful for! Keep them coming!

I want to speak Wednesday night about thankfulness and why we ought to be giving praise and thanks, not only on this special day we call Thanksgiving, but every day.

You can come join us or watch the live webcast by clicking here.

Lucy Laurie is coming!

Lucy is the name that Christopher and Brittany picked for their little daughter to come. Of course, she is already here, but not yet born.

According to the doctor, this is the week she will be born, so please be praying especially for Brittany to have a safe delivery. I will let you know as soon as she is here!

I am thankful for everything! This since the Preach the Word conference my perspective on this wonderful holiday has me more appreciative of what I have, and what Jesus Christ did for me. It burdened me so much that I had to teach on it and taught Sunday morning at Orangecrest to the HS Ministry on “Giving Thanks on Thanksgiving.”

It really opened my eyes as i investigated the scriptures and saw that giving thanks is three things:

    Essential – every Christian should have this thankfulness resonating in their hearts towards God for all He has done;

Eternal – We will be praising God and thanking Him in eternity for eternity.

Everyday – We are to be thankful for all things everyday in the name of the Lord.

Hope you have a good day!

I just started checking back a day ago to see if the baby had arrived…how wonderful that she is due to arrive any day now! I know it will be bittersweet but a blessing at the same time. We will be praying for a safe delivery and much happiness. God is giving you all a reason to smile during a difficult time (a major holiday without Christopher). What could be more precious or welcome than a little baby? God actually planned her arrival just when you’ll need it the most. For that I am thankful

    Pastor Greg,

Thank you for the update on Brittany and girls. I’ve been praying dearly for Brittany as she delivers their baby, Lucy. Do you think that Christopher already knows Lucy? How deep are the things of the Lord. Happy Thanksgiving!

    Hi Greg!
I can imagine with Lucy on the way and the holidays just around the corner, the reality of Christopher’s early departure into the arms of our Lord is ever more real and painful. By now, you have some idea of the multitudes of people who keep you in their thoughts and prayers, and I wanted to let you know I’m one of them. How amazing it will be for Christopher to spend Christmas in heaven…

I returned to the Washington, DC area in 2006 to be closer to my family, but lived in SoCal for about 10 years and was fortunate enough to discover Calvary Costa Mesa and a true relationship with Christ. I still listen to KWVE and am fed daily by the amazing messages of pastors like yourself, Chuck and Jon Courson.

A few years ago, I attended a service you held in Irvine and brought along your childhood friend, Paul. He was the one who remembered you as Pogo…and I knew the reunion would bring back pain, but also great glory to God as you realized what a different path your life had taken because you dedicated it to the Lord. It was an amazing example of how God answers prayers (in your words); sometimes no, sometimes slow and sometimes go! We are all tempted to live for the moment, but God has such incredible plans if we just pray and wait on His will.

God bless you and your incredibly faithful family. Carrie
