One of the Reasons I Do What I Do

January 9th, 2013 Posted in sermons

I just received this amazing e-mail.
A life saved from suicide!

Hello Pastor Greg-
I have struggled with depression since the age of 12 after the passing of my grandfather.
In August of 2012, I fell hard and was thinking about ending my life. I kept googling the Bible to see what it said about suicide. I was lost. Knowing if I did end it, I would leave behind a loving husband and 2-year-old daughter. I was in a severe dark place, but I knew that God did not want me to be in the dark anymore, so I searched and searched.

Just as I was searching, I decided to look on Facebook. A woman asked an old friend of mine about the Harvest Crusade. She was afraid to go in person due to the amount of people. My old friend gave her the idea to watch online. The light came on and I went to Harvest online. You saved me that day. I sit in tears of joy as I write this. I have given myself to the Lord.

I received the Start! Bible in the mail and read it every day. I listen to your podcasts at work and am so thankful. My husband is a nonbeliever. I pray in Jesus’ name daily that he will find the light as well. I ask that you help me and pray for my husband. Thank you so very much for all that you do. I am forever grateful.

Sincerely,
Michelle

    Dear Greg,
I love to hear letters just like this one. I to battle with depression, I find myself middle aged, divorced, unemployed and homeless. That is what one really bad year can do to a person. Several times I felt like giving up, but I knew God had a different plan for me, a purpose. I listen to your podcast almost everyday and I look at how God used a problem youth. (that be you) and did something so amazing.. It givesme hope
