Skid Row Interview

December 3rd, 2008 Posted in family, video

Hey everyone,

You might remember that I spent Thanksgiving at the Fred Jordan Mission on L.A.’s Skid Row, preaching for my aunt, Willie Jordan.

In fact, I’m going to go back there on December 14 after our Sunday morning services at Harvest. I’ll be leading a group of Harley riders from Riverside to the Fred Jordan Mission, joining some 2,500 other Harley riders in delivering toys for the needy children there.

Anyhow, here is an interview I did with my aunt on Thanksgiving after I spoke. You will get to hear Cathe speak on this clip too,  so watch it all the way to the end!

I just wanted to tell Cathe that I think she is absolutely the best! While I don’t really know her, this short video is a an enormous glimpse of a her heart and shows the great faith she has. I can only pray that I too can be this great a mother/woman/believer one day.

All my love and prayers and congratulations to the Laurie family.

    Pastor Greg and Cathe,
I just wanted to say I am so blessed by what you have shared. For years you have blessed the lives of many. Thank you for your obedience to the Lord in what He has called you to do. I pray that He will continue to strengthen you both and bring comfort to your hearts. Congratulations on your new grandbaby. I agree with you that Christopher does see and know what is going on. I had my older brother go home to be with the Lord 5 years ago. He was taken unexpectanly and I might add, instantly into the Lords presence. The Lord spoke to me in that moment to let me know that He took my brother home to be with Him. I often ask the Lord to give him hugs for me until I can do it one day myself. I just know our Lord does do that, because He knows, like Cathe said how we feel. God bless your family. Love Debbie

I just want to say “I really needed that”. My daughter Elexis went to heaven on Sept. 30th, this year. I don’t understand why God took her from me. I appreciated hearing Cathe talk about how she is coping. I often wonder how she is doing, as I am a grieving mother myself. I will try to think of Cathe when I am feeling hopeless. I will try to think of what I do know, in place of what I don’t. It seems that sometimes the don’t knows can consume you. Please let Cathe know I appreciate her words. I will continue to pray for your family. P.S. I love the baby’s name. -Nikki

Thank you Cathe for sharing your heart. Thank you for the reminder that we don’t give up what we know for what we don’t know. God is sovereign and what a comfort that is. I’m so glad Brittany and the girls have you. Nothing like the love and support of family. God Bless you all and congratulations on the birth of little Lucy. I will continue to pray for you and your precious family.

  9. Mariana says:

    Hi Pastor Greg!

Thank you for posting this video, I loved it. What I first noticed about you the first time I saw you on TV (on a Harvest Crusade, by the way) was the caring way in which you deliver your message. There’s care and concern transmitted over your voice, that which comes from our Lord; and I have noticed this too with your Aunt Willie (also the first time I saw her on TV), and I didn’t even know you guys were related.

So, I just loved the video, and very blessed by it. Very happy to see Cathe too; give her a big hug for me!

I can’t imagine your suffering, but I can clearly see that our Lord has been and will always sustain and comfort you during this difficult year for you.

Please thank your Aunt Willie and Cathe for such a great testimony.

My prayers remain with you, and may our Lord smile upon all 3 of you today! =)

    God bless,
    Mariana

  20. Muluken says:

    Dear Cathe,

I just have to say this. You said, “You do not give up what you know for what you do not know.” God is good!

I have never heard such an expression of knowing about the goodness of God and saying it, and relying in it, in this way and in such situations in my whole life. This expression of yours will change many lives, wow! God is your refuge, it is just so clear here!

I am sad about for your loss, but I am also very happy to hear about your hope and joy and work.

I have often laughed when your husband says funny things and I have learned so much from your lives and ministry. I have to say this too, I love hearing about Stella very much. I was very happy when i saw those pictures of Lucy, Stella, and Brittany.

It is not necessary to tell about my life, but your lives are blessing and I am learning and relearning many things. Thanks for sharing your lives.

    In His love,
    Mulu

  22. Anita says:

    Hello Greg and Cathe,

For some unknown reason, I googled your site and saw the devastating news. My heart goes out to the both of you.

Life brings unexpected changes at times. I know, I have been through a major one recently. But faith in God is always at hand, and comforting and a huge help. I am also learning that there is a reason for everything, even though we may not recognize it at the time.

Warm regards to you and your family,
    Anita

What a family! I am so impressed with the Lauries and the Jordans. What fruitful servants of our Lord they are. I hope that God will allow me to be more of a help to the Fred Jordan Mission, and I hope to see it one day.
